Welcome to the home page of the Scottish National Fat Stock Club. I am pleased to announce the date of the 2009 Royal Highland Winter Fair is 25th November. The Scottish Premier Meat Exhibition will this year take place on 18th and 21st November.
With the demise of UA’s Perth centre, which has been home to the live part of the PME since the competitions inauguration, the Council were left with a difficult decision as to where to go. Luckily for us, Caledonian Marts at Stirling have stepped in and agreed to host the live competition on Wednesday 18th November. I should like to thank Caledonian Marts for their offer and look forward to the usual superb show of livestock. I should also like to thank United Auctions at Perth for all the support they have shown us over the years.
As far as the Royal Highland Winter Fair goes, we were delighted with the superb show of livestock in 2008, which many believe was the best anywhere in the UK last year. It couldn’t happen without the dedication of the many stewards, helpers and of course exhibitors, so many thanks to all.
It was especially pleasing that the show at Ingliston was a success for the first year of the joint venture between the Scottish National Fat Stock Club and the Royal Highland Agricultural Society of Scotland.
Sadly we have come to the end of the three year sponsorship contract with Osmonds. It has been a pleasure working with Heather and Fiona Wilson, however the loss of a major sponsor has left quite a hole in the funding and we are actively seeking new sponsors for this year.
The Premier Meat Exhibition continues to go from strength to strength with entries up again last year and exhibitors enjoying the fantastic lunch and social occasion courtesy of two of the Club’s biggest supporters – Scotbeef and Marks and Spencer.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year as president of the Scottish National Fat Stock Club and I’m grateful for the support of all the members, sponsors and supporters. I shall look forward to seeing you again at this years show at Ingliston on 25th November, Cale Marts on 18th November or at Scotbeef on 21st November.
